Expected learning outcomes

On completion of this course the students will be able to:

  • Discuss the game design process using correct terminology
  • Understand game mechanics and their interaction
  • Understand the process of game development and how design contributes to this process
  • Work through the development of an idea from game concept to rules and implementation
  • Work more effectively in groups
  • Know basic methods within new thinking and innovation processes

This course will draw on the students experience with games and develop an appreciation for the design process by requiring the students to design innovative games within constraints.

  •  Four assignments (counts 60%)
  •  Students must pass both parts independently to pass the course.

Ordinary re-sit exam for the written exam, assignments need to be redone next time the course is arranged.
