Expected learning outcomes

The student is going to be, through preparation for clinical practice and skill training, prepared to practice manual skills on level A, B, C and D.

The student is going to have experience with group processes and group dynamics.

The student will have knowledge about and preparation to ego-supportive nursing principles and milieu therapy to patients with different diagnoses.

The student will have competence to meet the suicidal patient.

The student will have knowledge about and show insight into how to meet the patients relatives.

The student is going to actively participate in documentation in practice.

The student have used etical theory in practice.

The student will have knowledge about ACPR.

The student will have knowledge about hospital hygiene and infection-regimes.

The student will have knowledge about pre-, per- and post-surgical nursing.

The student will have knowlede about anestetics and observation of epidural catether.

The studentens will have knowledge about enteral and parenteral nutrition.


Preparation to and reflection upon supervised practicum in medical, surgical and mental health wards.
Manual skills: movement technics, implementation and care of catheter in a venous line, administration of infusions and infusion pumps, wound treatment, care of central venous catheter and observations, care of drain, infection-regimes, oxygen threatment, suction, hospital hygiene, BCPR, ACPR, first aid, enteral and parenteral nutrition, anestetics, observation of epidural catether and one day with procedural training, pre-, per- and post-surgical nursing.
Group dynamics, group processes/conflictsolving, suicidalproblem, nursing to the patients relatives/network, ego-supporting nursing principles and milieu therapy. Documentation of nursing and using individuel plan. Ethical reflection of these topics, and one day with ethical problems.
