Expected learning outcomes
The aim of the BSc Computer Science is to give the students a solide base for further learning and development. On completion of the programme, the students will have knowledge and skills within computer science in general as well as in a specialised field. The programme has a main focus on programming, but the courses cover both technical as well as application-oriented topics. Depending on the choice of specialisation, the student will be equipped to master system development processes, programming of large data systems or system administration. Students qualifiy for entrance to IT related Master's degrees (e.g. Master of Media Technology (from 2005) and Master of Information Security at Gjøvik University College).
By and large the programme follows the international aims of a three-year undergraduate degree in computer science, witch makes transfer to a master programme abroad a good alternativeCompared to the BEng Computer Science, the BSc gives the students a broader competence within informatics, while there are just a few science subjects. The BSc has a special focus on mediatechnical applied computer science. The programme qualifies for many projects within both the public and private sector. Primarily, they will be equipped to fill positions in system development, programming and system administration within the IT sector.
