The activity of the health department is anchored in Gjøvik University College's strategic longterm plan. The are of commitment on research and development is research with close coupling to practice. This involves developing, describing, applying, assessing and imparting knowledge and attitude in the following specific lines: profession development, service provision, individuals, groups and society.

With a large number of health related educations and research activities, Health is in an exciting development aiming towards the establishment of the Inland University. The lines of study reflect the priorities that are noted in health political documents, among others the need to promote cooperation and holistic view.

The leader group of the academic group Health consist of dean Roger Lian, head of departement at Health, Technology and Society, Heidi Vifladt, head of departement at Nursing, Kristin Haugen and head of departement of the Center for Care Research, Maren K. Raknes Sogstad.
