Suzanne Knudsen takes a semester abroad at Bond University in Australia as part of her Bachelor in Media Management at GUC. - I would definitely recommend this to other students. You can experience something new, and escape everyday life a bit, says Suzanne.
Suzanne and three other students from her class have traveled to Australia. -We are now at the Gold Coast which is located in Queensland. We live about 500 meters from the school in a small house. Here we have access to a swimming pool, a barbecue area and a gym. - Our motivation to go studying abroad as part of our Bachelor`s Degree at GUC is to some extent to get away from the cold winter in Gjøvik. We experience something new while we are studying. Living in Australia with financial support from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund is not a bad thing, emphasizes Suzanne.
All students at Gjøvik University College who want to study abroad during their period of studying can apply to the International Office. The application deadline for exchange students this autumn (autumn 2010) is 15 February 2010.
Suzanne Knudsen definitely recommends going on exchange. - So far I enjoy it very much. The school is organized slightly different than at home. The teaching and lectures take place almost in the same way. However, you have to sign that you have participated in hours, since this is a small part of my final grade. In all subjects, we have something called tutorials. That means working on assignments, debating, asking questions, project work etc. These classes consist of maximum 12 persons, that means it is less scary to speak in front of everyone. There are also some differences in the examination arrangements. Lecturers and teachers are super committed and encourage everyone to participate in the tutorials.
-Students going on exchange during their period of study are more sought after in the job market. They have another kind of experience in the field of academic environment and they also have experienced linguistic and cultural challenges that contribute to the development as a person. This is something that future employers will look for, and the Norwegian working life requires more international expertise, emphasizes Bente Gaalaas Rønningen, head of International Office at Gjøvik University College and Lillehammer University College.
Apply to the International Office before February 15 2010!
