Visit from USA

Picture of Professor Edward J. DelpFaculty of Computer Science and Media Technology (IMT) at GUC was recently visited by distinguished Professor Edward J. Delp from USA. Among other things they discussed possibilities for future cooperation on research projects.

20th of October IMT was visited by the professor from Purdue University in Indiana. Associate professor at GUC, Faouzi Alaya Cheikh, tells that Professor Delp was invited to discuss the possibilities of future cooperation on research projects on video analysis and processing topics.

Delp was also invited to give two lectures, one about watermarking and the other about forensics. Here Faouzi Alaya Cheikh gives a summery of the two lectures:

An Overview of Watermarking
In this lecture Delp gave an overview of the work in image and video watermarking. He also described the basic models for watermark embedding and detection. He examined various watermark attack scenarios. Finally he discussed where watermarking fits into a security system.

The Forensics of Things
In this lecture Delp overviewed device forensics. In device forensics
one wants to identify a device by examining the output of the device.
This is done by modeling how the device "makes" its output. He later
described his research group work in the area of printer, scanner and cameras forensics. He also described several operational scenarios where device forensics is important.
