PhD student Mark Seeger was awarded the prize for an academic article and a presentation on the Kaspersky "IT Security for the Next Generation - European Cup 2011".
Mark Seeger is a PhD student at Gjøvik University College and Center for Advanced Security Research Darmstadt . In his PhD he focuses on new methods for intrusion prevention and malware detection.
For the Kaspersky conference Seeger submitted the article "The Cost of Observation for Intrusion Detection: Performance Impact of Concurrent Host Observation "and he achieved a third place of all submitted articles.
Kaspersky Lab organizes every year several conferences for young researchers. These are conferences that are held throughout the world to promote and reward research within IT security. Since Mark Seeger attained a third place as he also get the opportunity to participate and meet the winners of the Kaspersky from around the world in April. -It was good competition, so a third place was good. Now I will get the opportunity to meet all the other award winners and I will present my work for several researchers and experts from academia and industry, Seeger says.
The goal of Kaspersky conferences is to gather students, experts and researchers in an environment where they can present and discuss issues relating to cybercrime.
