On October 21, GUC arranged a department conference within the field of anesthesia. - This was an opportunity to refresh their skills, get new acquaintances and continue the cooperation between the university college and the hospital sector, says project manager and lecturer Lars Aune Svarthaug.
Svarthaug also highlights that the department conference has been a great way to give something back to the collaborating partners at the supervised professional training. The day was well attended, a total of 45 participants from the anesthesia departments at hospitals in Akershus, Hedmark, Oppland and Oslo as well as anesthesia nursing students from GUC and Hedmark University College.
Engaged participants experienced a varied program dealing with the important aspects of the future anesthesia nurses. The lectures came from GUC, Sykehuset Innlandet (the local hospital), the Norwegian System of Compensation to Patients and Haukeland Hospital. In the picture we can see the anesthetist Elin Bjørnestad from Haukeland Hospital who shared her knowledge on Obstetric anesthesia and major post-partum haemorrhage in pregnancy.
It was the first time the department conference was held as part of a collaborative project between the anesthesia department at Sykehuset Innlandet HF Gjøvik and GUC.
