Contribution to research
Eidsiva Energy participates in research projects at university colleges in Lillehammer and Gjøvik. -Our contribution to research is a part of our commitment for an inland university, and we want to strengthen the cooperation between Eidsiva and the university colleges, says the director of Eidsiva Growth, Thor Svegården.
At Lillehammer University College Eidsiva participate in long term and basic research within the PhD area "Life Conditions and Socialisation of Children and Youth". Eidsiva’s contribution is 5.07 million NOK, and applies for the academic years 2010/11 and 2011/12.
Eidsiva contributes with 5.53 million NOK to long term and basic research within the PhD area "Information Security" at Gjøvik University College. This contribution also applies for the academic years 2010/11 and 2011/12. Eidsiva’s participation in research projects at the university colleges is a part of the company’s contribution to the university fond.
-By Eidsiva’s support directly to the university colleges, we achieve a multiplier effect. The university college will receive an additional 25 % from the Research Council of Norway. With other words one krone from Eidsiva becomes 1.25 krones for the university colleges, Rector Bente Ohnstad from Lillehammer University College explains. This kind of reinforcements from the Research Council of Norway is only possible for university colleges with PhD programs.
-Our contribution is an important part of our commitment for a future inland university. An university status will make the region stronger in competition for students, employees in research and university positions and research resources, says Svegården.
-An inland university will make the region more attractive to settle in. There will be more opportunities for a new generation for interesting educations and work. A university will work against negative demographic trends, support the region's need for adaption and innovation as well as a direct contribution to develop competence, says rector Jørn Wroldsen at Gjøvik University College.
