Loans and Inter Library Loans (ILL)

Library card

Students use their student ID card as a library card. Please contact the circulation desk before you use the card for the first time as the library staff may need to check that we have your e-mail address and other details. If you have not received your student ID card, the library can provide you with a national library card that you can use in all libraries in Norway. If you already have a national card, you can use this at our library. Members of the staff use their staff ID cards or a national library card.

The library uses automatic self-check stations and all patrons are therefore required to bring their library card when borrowing.

Messages from the library

You can receive messages regarding preordered or ILL books on e-mail, text message or by mail. Please let us know in what way you wish to be contacted.

Reminders regarding books that has not been returned within due date will be sent by e-mail. Second and third reminders are sent via mail. The library system gets information on addresses to students from Studentweb. Please make sure that the information in Studentweb are updated and correct. Other patrons can give notice on change of address directly to the library staff.

Keeping track of your loans, reserved documents and ILLs

Through "My Bibsys", you can keep track of your loans, reserved documents and ILLs. You can also renew your own loans. Log in to My Bibsys using FEIDE with your regular username and password or order your own Bibsys password using your library ID (number under the barcode on your library card). See how ILL works.

Inter Library Loans (ILLs)

If you need documents that the library does not own, we can borrow them from other libraries via Inter Library Loans. This is how ILL works

"Biblioteket for lyd og punkt"/"The Norwegian Library of Talking Books and Braille"

"The Norwegian Library of Talking Books and Braille" has its own student service center. The center produces and lends academic literature (text books) to students with diverse visual impairments (e.g. blind, dyslexia or other impairments). The service only includes students enrolled in higher education and for exam purposes.

Only blind or visually impaired (excluding students with dyslexia) has the right to get textbooks produced. Please contact Kari Lauritzen at the student service center here at GUC for more information.

Procurement proposals

We accept proposals for purchase of books, journals and other documents that you think the library should have.

If you want to reserve documents that you propose for purchase, please let us know. Otherwise, we may buy the documents you suggested without your knowledge.

Please contact the library or fill out this form for procurement proposals.
