Associate professor Patrick Bours at NISlab was an expert witness in Oslo City Court last week.
NISlab (Norwegian Information Security laboratory) was asked by the Oslo Police to evaluate equipment, which they thought would be used for skimming purposes (copying of banking cards). In cooperation with the electronics-group at Gjøvik University College they concluded that the equipment could be used for copying banking cards.
-It was interesting and exiting to be an expert witness in a court case. And when the research community within information security and electronics are used by the Oslo Police as experts, it shows that we have done something right, Bours states.
