IMT4901 Master Thesis

The Master’s Thesis is an individual project to be carried out in the final semester of the Master programme. The project will demonstrate the student’s ability to perform a research project with the intention of providing new knowledge.
The student will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Clearly and independently define a significant problem relevant to the master's programme.
  • Arrange necessary studies or experiments.
  • Be able to chose a research methodology suitable for the problem and be able to carry out the project according to the chosen method.
  • Draw defensible conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Present the work in written and oral forms in accordance with what is seen as best practice.

During the master thesis semester, the faculty will invite the students to participate in 2 or 3 seminars/work-shops. The seminars are not mandatory, but strongly recommended. The seminars are usually in the first week of January, March/April and September. The students registered will find the seminar agenda in Fronter.

Students will present their master projects aprox 3 weeks before final deadline.

Spring semester 2011: Presentations during June 9. and 10. (final deadline July 1.). Autumn semester 2011: Presentations Thursday Nov 3. (final deadline Dec. 1.)

When students fullfill semesterregistration and register for IMT4901 they will get access to the Fronter room "IMT 4901 Master Thesis 2012"  for hand-in information and deadlines.
