Minimum one semester completed at Gjøvik or Lillehammer University College. See "Additional information".

Expected learning outcomes

The students will:

• Acquire knowledge of internationalisation of higher education
• Become familiar with Gjøvik and Lillehammer University Colleges’ international strategies.
• Acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of networking.
• Increase their cultural understanding.
• Improve their language skills
• Learn how to plan and organise activities (incl. budgeting and accounting) in a team setting

- Lectures with focus on internationalisation, cooperation, problem solving, intercultural communication, practical arrangements for international students etc.
- Welcome and follow up on incoming exchange students.
- Plan and organise activities for international students.

To complete the course the students must hand in a report (appr. 2000 words). In the report they will reflect on:

• What they have learned
• What they consider to be special challenges for international students and how these challenges can be met
• The role of the International office
• New ideas for activities for international students.

The students will be evaluated based on the practical tasks, participation in mandatory meetings, activities and assignments and the final written report.

1. Taking part in start up meeting “Buddy course”
2. Approved plan for the course
3. Taking part in picking up assigned students and introduction program
4. Attending meetings with International office
5. Attending Mid-term meeting and hand in assignment before this meeting
6. Attending wrap up meeting

Additional information

A limited number of students will be admitted to the course (the number depends on the number of incoming international students in each semester). Qualified applicants will be invited to an interview. The applications will be assessed based on the following criteria: Completed period of study abroad, language skills, grade average, study progression, organisation experience, personal skills.
