COSI/CIMET Industrial Project

Prerequisite(s)

Successful completion of first and second semester COSI/CIMET courses.

Eligible only for third semester COSI/CIMET students.

Expected learning outcomes

The student will join the color related industrial project work which will be done in groups. Students will learn group working, in which the group members are possibly in different universities. The topic of the project work is defined every year separately, and it is evaluated at the end of the 3rd semester by the evaluation board. After the industrial project, students have basic skills on project work, experience on industrial oriented topic, and they have applied the course contents from COSI/CIMET semester 1 and 2 to a real industrial problem.

Topic(s)

The topic for the industrial project is decided by the COSI/CIMET consortium. The topic will be from real industrial  field, and the consortium and its associate members are used to negotiate on the topic. Topic is given to students at the latest at the beginning of 3rd semester. At the end of semester 3, the evaluation of the project works is done. Check points of the project will be organized by the course instructor.

At the end of 3rd semester, each group will submit a written project report.  It must consist of the following chapters: Introduction, Methods, Experiments, Results, Discussion, and References. In addition, the developed software must be returned in digital form, to be tested by the evaluation board.  After the final report submission, the groups will present their project work and results as oral presentation. This will be organized by video conferencing.

The grading of the project contest is based on the following parts: the report, solution of the project task and final presentation.

The project will be evaluated by an evaluation board which includes at least three faculty members of COSI/CIMET partner institutions.

Coursework Requirements

Oral presentation of the project, where all project members contribute, and where videoconferencing or similar equipment is used if requested by the course responsible.

Teaching Materials

Students are expected to do literature survey and find help by contacting researchers in the field.

This course is only available for students enrolled in the CIMET or COSI programme, and the course is more or less identical to the corresponding course at UEF, and in accordance with the students learning agreement.
