Knowledge:
- Fundamental principles like equilibrium and elasticity. Basic notions.
- Solve elementary problems of statics and stress-strain relations.
Skills:
- The student will be able to solve simple problems of finding force reactions, moment and stresses.
- The student will be able to solve problems generally by using symbols.

Emnet er tilrettelagt for gjennomføring både for campusstudenter og nettstudenter. Den enkelte student står fritt til selv å velge den formidlingsform som best er tilpasset eget behov.
Emnet foreleses med forelesninger på campus som er åpne for alle. I tillegg finnes nettforelesninger i Fronter, som dekker noen av temaene.
Det gis veiledning på campus til oppsatte tider. Og det kan eventuelt legges tilrette for veiledning ved hjelp av elektroniske hjelpemidler.
