Expected learning outcomes
The overall objective of the course is to provide an introduction to theoretical geology and geotechnical engineering.
Upon course completion students should be able to describe basic geological processes and conditions. Students should further be able to describe characteristics of rocks, minerals and different kinds of soil, as well as classifying them. Students should be able to calculate ground stress, soil pressure and substratum and thus be able to discuss and evaluate results concerning geological and geotechnical problems.
