Expected learning outcomes
The course will give the students basic understanding of the theory and the practical modelling and use of modern databases. Further it will give the students knowledge and understanding of the use of XML and XML-related technologies.

- The structure of data, and SQL used to Define, Manipulate and Query
- Database Design, Database Modeling with ER and EER-diagrams and 1. 2. og 3. Normal form
- Client-Server, Security, Transactions and Concurrency Control
- Document modelling with XML, DTD and Schema
- Communication of data through XML
- Using XSLT to transform XML documents
