Expected learning outcomes
The intention of the course is to give an overview of the principles, methods and equipment in use in different types of telecommunication system. The course will also give an introduction to the theory of teletraffic.
Types of telecommunication network:
- Access and backbone networks of telephony, ISDN and mobile communication
- Synchronization and signalling networks
- Systems for electrical, optical and radiocommunication lines.
- XDSL technology
- Transmission quality
- IP telephony
Exchanges and multiplexers:
- Multiplexing and switching. PCM, SDH and ATM
Teletraffic theory and network dimensioning
