Expected learning outcomes

To provide students with an overview of modern surveying equipment and practice for setting out buildings and construction works. Students will understand the surveyor's function in construction projects, and the interactions and data flows between contractors and consulting engineers.


- Building and construction setting out;
- Establishing a basis for future setting out tasks;
- As built documentation;
- Measurement using total stations and electronic field data terminals;
- Use of different types of lasers;
- Data transfer between field data terminals and PCs;
- Use of PC software;
- Road formation design and setting out;
- Data capture for and use of DTMs;
- Volume computations;
- Machine guidance
