Expected learning outcomes

Upon completing the course, the student shall be able to to approach scientific research critically, analytically and systematically, to apply principles of research ethics and to carry out a scientific project.


The course entails a scientific project based on a chosen field with relevance for health promotion and the mobilization of resources in local communities. The master's thesis is a systematic study of empirical data. It shall build upon all earlier modules and courses.

Work with the thesis will cover the final two terms of the programme. Research seminars focusing on methodological and theoretical issues will be arranged. Supervision and participation at the seminars is required.

Individual thesis with graded scale. The thesis should be approximately 21.000-25.000 words in length.
